                      Breakfast Foods for Weight Loss

                      Winter can be difficult to stay on top of your diet and health goals. With the cold weather comes cravings for comfort foods and warmth, often leading to overeating and packing on extra pounds. But it doesn't have to be that way! You can beat the chill and slim down this winter with the right breakfast options.

                      And if you think that means you have to give up on taste, you ain't seen muffin yet! Here are some options to add to your winter breakfast menu:

                      Frittatas. Pack your eggy delight with vegetables like spinach, bell peppers and mushrooms. According to the USDA, frittatas made with these vegetables can provide up to 60% of the recommended intake of vitamin A and up to 45% of the recommended vitamin C intake. The high protein content of frittatas also will keep you full and satisfied, preventing unnecessary daily snacking. What's even better is that you can change it up every day.

                      Oatmeal. Not only are is it delicious and comforting, but it's also packed with nutrients that aid in weight loss. Oatmeal is a great source of fiber, which helps you feel fuller for longer and can prevent overeating later in the day. Adding toppings like nuts, seeds or fruits also can increase protein and nutrient content, making it an even more satisfying and nutritious meal. In fact, the Journal of Nutrition found oatmeal lovers consume 81% more fiber than those who skip breakfast or eat less-filling options.

                      Parfaits. If you're more into sweet than savory, consider whipping up Greek yogurt parfaits with layers of fresh fruits, crunchy granola or nuts. Greek yogurt is high in protein, with up to 23 grams per serving, making it a great option for those looking to increase their protein intake and aid in weight loss. It also contains beneficial probiotics that support a healthy gut, while the fruit gives you a dose of vitamins and antioxidants and a burst of natural sweetness.

                      Smoothies. Studies suggest smoothies may increase your consumption of fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, boosting your intake of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. Ingredients like these can help reduce inflammation, improve digestion and lower risks of heart disease, obesity and mental decline. In addition, most citrus fruits contain vitamin C, and who couldn't use a winter immunity boost?

                      With these ideas, we hope you can start your day with an egg-cellent breakfast.
