The Mat-Su Regional Medical Center laboratory is a full-service laboratory operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The laboratory at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center Outpatient Center serves outpatients and patients at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center Urgent Care Center. The phlebotomy (specimen collection) station at Mat-Su Regional Outpatient Center is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The laboratories at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center and Mat-Su Regional Outpatient Center are staffed with phlebotomists, medical laboratory technicians and medical technologists. These are trained professionals who collect and process laboratory specimens and perform diagnostic testing on blood and other body fluids such as cell counts, microscopic examination, chemical analysis, coagulation studies and cultures.
The laboratory also has a very busy transfusion service, preparing more than 2200 units of blood components for transfusion each year. Blood components are obtained from the Blood Bank of Alaska in Anchorage and all blood units are extensively tested for infectious diseases and blood borne pathogens.
Laboratory tests require an order from your physician or other healthcare provider. Patients with standing or recurrent orders may call ahead to register by phone to expedite their visit to the phlebotomy station. If interested, please ask the phlebotomist about this service on your next visit.
