Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Services
Mat-Su Regional Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Services is part of the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center family of services, a fully accredited, community-based healthcare organization providing quality medical care to the residents of the Mat-Su Valley and beyond. Mat-Su Regional Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine employs an interdisciplinary approach to recovery for inpatients, outpatients, and home health patients. Mat-Su Regional's experienced staff of licensed therapists work closely with the patients' physicians to help patients maximize their independence and wellbeing.
Occupational Therapy
Mat-Su Regional's occupational therapists assist patients suffering from functional deficits produced by fractures, soft tissue injury, stroke, arthritis, neurological conditions, and much more. Their expertise focuses on the following:
- Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Energy conservation
- Home safety evaluations
- Neurological rehabilitation
- Orthopedic injuries
Physical Therapy
Mat-Su Regional's staff of inpatient and outpatient physical therapists is skilled in treating all of your orthopedic needs for neck, back, shoulder, arm, hand, knee, hip, foot, and other injuries, as well as neurological disorders including stroke (CVA), Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), and Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI). Mat-Su Regional's Physical Therapy staff specializes in:
- Cardiac conditioning
- Chronic pain control
- Orthotics fabrication
- Pool therapy
- Sport specific rehabilitation
- Wound care
- Work conditioning
Cardiac Rehabilitation
Mat-Su Regional staff includes a Registered Nurse and a physical therapist who are BLS and ACLS qualified. Classes consist of one staff member per every five participants. The Mat-Su Regional Cardiac Rehabilitation program offers continuously monitored individualized exercise along with health education and information to reduce the risk of coronary artery disease through diet, exercise, lifestyle choices and medication. Voluntary candidates for Cardiac Rehabilitation include anyone who has had a heart attack in the last 12 months, coronary bypass or heart valve surgery, angioplasty or stints, stable angina, or open heart surgery.
