General X-ray

X-rays use invisible electromagnetic energy beams to produce images of internal tissues, bones, and organs on film or digital media.
As Mat-Su Regional Medical Center offers a full range of digital diagnostic services, including digital X-rays. Why are digital X-rays better? For one thing, they save you time. With a digital X-ray, there’s no waiting around for film to be developed because there is no film! Instead, the X-ray image is converted directly into electronic bits of information that are stored in a computer where they can be viewed and enlarged for closer study.

Digital X-rays can also be transmitted electronically, so they can easily be sent to your doctor or another specialist for consultation.

A standard X-ray is capable of detecting many things – broken bones, discolorations, masses, etc. But an X-ray is a flat, one-dimensional image. An MRI is a robust, full-view image. Healthcare professionals can measure size in three dimensions, map the location within the body, and assess the health of surrounding organs and tissue.
